If you are an IQOS customer, there are initiatives that support the environmentally responsible disposal and recycling of tobacco heating devices. The Smoke-free Recycling Program, which collects and recycles used devices, is helping us to reduce our impact on the environment.

Can Alternatives to Smoking Be Recycled?

If you’re using or planning to switch to smoke-free products, do not discard your device in a standard waste bin. These products, such as vapes, often consist of recyclable components.

Can IQOS Heated Tobacco Devices Be Recycled?

Generally, heated tobacco devices can be recycled and/ or safely disposed of. IQOS heated tobacco devices can be recycled under our Smoke-free Recycling Program. We always recommend checking the packaging for specific manufacturer guidance on products made by other brands.

Where Can IQOS Heated Tobacco Devices Be Recycled in Canada?

There are two ways to recycle your IQOS device. You can either ship it from home (at no cost to you) or drop it off in-store. To ship from home, simply follow these steps:

1. Register at TerraCycle.com.
2. Collect all items in a secure container.
3. Print your shipping label for free on the TerraCycle website.
4. Place the label on your sealed package and call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 to schedule a next-day pickup or drop it off at your nearest UPS location.

As well as IQOS devices, used HEETS tobacco sticks can also be recycled. Simply request a collection bag online and return it to your local IQOS store or ship from home. And what cannot be recycled will be used for energy recovery.
